Raschau/Garmisch Partenkirchen 28.01.2014 No sooner had the Four Hills Tornament over, the people responsible in Garmisch-Partenkirchen looking forward already to the upcoming season: It is enough to not only have one of the most modern ski jumps with the most advanced track system, now the Bavarians honed even on the start bar. For the first time tested at the German pokal of ski jumping in Garmisch, the start beam meets the high demands of the tour organizer.
Developed by Peter Riedel GmbH in cooperation with Jürgen Kreisel the start beam is totally different from previous versions. The entry of the jumper in the lane is further simplified by a rolling mechanism. Instead of the previous repulsion or jump into the inrun track the athletes sit with the new system on a skateboard, which greatly simplifies the track entry.
Already at the Four Hills Tournament, the system was presented to the International Ski Federation FIS. Miran Tepeš, assistant of ski race director Walter Hofer, was able to make an personally image of the system before it was first tested in the following week, with the support of the Ski Club Partenkirchen at the Germany Pokal under competition conditions. The next competition use is experienced in February in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the modern start beam to the Continental Cup.
"I assume that we have until March finished all the necessary test runs under training and competition conditions and can bring the start beam on larger events to use", said Peter Riedel. "Critical to the success and the best way to implement are the instructions that we receive on the athletes and the SC Partenkirchen. Personally I am very excited about what the coming weeks will bring to us in this regard!"
