BARCELONA, 5th June 2014 – Four times the Italian Alberto Tomba (year of birth 1966) won the world cup race in Alta Badia – only one time in Adelboden on 4th February 1995. Eberhard “Ebs” Riedel won the world cup race one time in Adelboden, too, 9th January 1961.

This seems connectionless to the 49th FIS-congress which takes place till tomorrow in Barcelona at the first look. But at the second look there is a connection, because Albert Tomba was the star guest at the gala hosted by the Austrian ski association. We drank to the successful ski world championship in Schladming and a hopeful outlook was taken to the Nordic world championship 2019. The decision regarding the host will be made tonight. Seefeld is one of four candidates and has to compete Oberstdorf (Germany), Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Planica (Slovenia). As partner of the Austrian ski association and as German citizen – little joke – I got the “double chance”. No matter who will host the world championship I am sure in 5 years they will do a great in job.

Tomba was together with two fiery flamenco-dancers in the spotlight of interest. Of course I took my chance to talk to him about Aldelboden and my father. If he wanted to know more about our history, he should have a look at the book “Spuren des Erfolgs” our family chronic I advised him.

Except that the Austrians gala was full of interesting talks with Paul Ganzenhuber, Harald Haim and Güther Csar. We talked about the past Olympic games 2010 and 2014 and about the future as the opening of the Nordic Center Montafon at the end of july. Latest then there will be the next meeting with discussions in causal flair.
