BARCELONA, 6th June 2014 – Finally it is Seefeld (AUT) where the Nordic ski world championship 2019 will take place. It’s a pity for Oberstdorf, Planica and Almaty. It has been a close election.  In the final round three votes went from Planica to Seefeld, who finally won through against Oberstdorf with 9:8 votes in the final election (1-on-1).

“For this moment we feel overchallenged” enjoyed a member of the applicants committee. From this sentence you can understand how they estimated their chance. “To win at the first application – we couldn’t imagine that” meant mayor Wener Frießer to the “Tiroler Tageszeitung”. “TT”-head of sports Florian Madl was live in Barcelona to participate and record the success of the Seefelder people.

The Seefelder’s presentation was very good. They presented as very capable and hospitable candidate – and they had a supporter who is an authority in the international winter sports business: Peter Schröcksnadel. The businessman in ski sport business did for sure what he could, that the Nordic world championship will return to Austria 20 years after it took place in Ramsau am Dachstein.

“Peter Riedel sports technology” is partner and official equipment supplier of the Austrian ski association, that is why I am happy that Seefeld won. A pleasant meeting we had on Wednesday when “Seefeld 2019” had their presentation right after our “Peter Riedel sports technology”  trailer demonstration. They already built up their stand-up display with logos and the slogan “hand in hand” and asked If I am disturbed by that – I meant of course not! Even if committee members have not vote if think a proverb from switzerland means: “What does not support, does not harm.”

Felicitación to Seefeld – congratulations. I’m sure that they will host a great campeonato mundial (the quizzed word from yesterday). Now they have to start hard work. But what means “work” in Spanish?
