The skijumping hill in Ramsau am Dachstein gets a new Riedel inrun track. This was decided last week after a long planning and negotiation phase. The 90-meter long inrun is considered as one of the steepest in the international comparison. The new track will be built directly over the existing one, the flight curve and thus the characteristics of the jump should remain unchanged. The beginning of the construction is scheduled to start in May 2019.

This tuesday Peter Riedel, Mayor Ernst Fischbacher, Alois Stadlober (sports director Training Center Ramsau) and the Nordic Combined Athlete Franz-Josef Rehrl, who lives and trains in Ramsau am Dachstein, met for a local inspection at the hill in Ramsau. For Franz Josef Rehrl it is a great revaluation of his home training facility: "For me it's perfect that finally my home hill gets a new inrun track. We already train and jump on Riedel tracks in the World Cup. The previous track was a bit narrow and unusual compared to modern inruns. And more, with the ice track, you can train in wintry conditions even earlier in fall. Simply perfect and a great upgrade for the training center here in Ramsau am Dachstein."

Mayor Ernst Fischbacher welcomes the renewal of the inrun: "I am very proud that we will get a new track next spring. We decided on a Riedel track, as this is the market leader and has already been successfully installed on many hills in Austria on all over the world. Our training center is internationally known, so it is even more important that we provide a solide infrastructure."

Alois Stadlober, sports director of the training center, says: "The ski jumping facility was built in 1995 for the World Cup (which was held in Ramsau am Dachstein in 1999, note). We have made small adaptations over the last few years, but it has become increasingly difficult to get the certificate from the FIS. Now we finally succeeded in building a new track. In the long term, we can position ourselves as a Nordic training center and offer athletes a modern infrastructure. I know Peter Riedel for a long time and appreciate his work very much, that's why we decided on his track.“

For the Peter Riedel GmbH it is not the first project in the municipality Ramsau am Dachstein. Already in 2013, together with the Austrian Ski Federation, they set up a test track, which is located right next to the ski jumping facility. On this test track it is possible to intensively train the inrun without jumping. For the athletes, more repetitions are possible in one training session. In comparison, you can only do a few jumps during a jump training session.

Peter Riedel is looking forward to the implementation of the project: "I am pleased that, after a long time of negotiation and planning, we are finally ready to build the track here in Ramsau am Dachstein. The test track has already been implemented here in Ramsau together with the ÖSV. The cooperation with the training center is very positive and I am looking forward to the upcoming project."
