100 years of Cafe König Oberwiesenthal

Cafe König in Oberwiesenthal is celebrating its 100th anniversary

A true Oberwiesenthal institution is celebrating its 100th anniversary

Cafe König in Oberwiesenthal, Saxony, has become an integral part of Germany's highest town.

The cafe, its associated pastry shop, and guesthouse have a long tradition and, over a century, have developed into a popular meeting place for guests from near and far.

Located in the heart of Oberwiesenthal with a view of the beautiful Fichtelberg mountain, the cafe is run by Frank Weber and his wife Antje, the fourth generation of the family. Baking has become a passion for the family, and they have received numerous awards for this, focusing on quality and tradition. The Weber family, who own the cafe, are known for their close ties to their guests, many of them have become good friends over the years.

Due to their close ties to Nordic and Alpine skiing, the international sporting elite visits Frank Weber's establishment frequently. Among other things, Frank established the Cafe König Cup, which is awarded to the winner of the Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix. So it's not unusual to sometimes bump into an Olympic champion at Cafe König.

Frank and I have a long-standing friendship, and it's very important to me to celebrate the 100th anniversary with him. Various well-known faces from the world of sports made sure to congratulate Frank on his milestone anniversary. This, too, testifies to what a great person Frank is and what he has turned Cafe König into over the past few years. Namely, THE meeting place in Oberwiesenthal. For guests, top athletes, visitors, locals...or simply friends who want to have a beer with the busy owner…

Happy anniversary, dear Frank!
