European Youth Olympic Festival 2015 on Ski-Line

Who thinks of Peter Riedel GmbH and its innovative technologies at the ski jumping inruns, thinks of Tschaikowski, Trondheim, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Hinzenbach and many other places where the top ski jumpers meet.

But he does not think of… Montafon. Montafon? Excuse me? Montafon is a 39 km long valley in Vorarlberg, Austria, home of the alpine Olympic champion Anita Wachter (1988, combined), and (together with Liechtenstein) venue of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) 2015. So far, so good, so clear. And what has Peter Riedel GmbH to do with it?!

A lot! Since, in the context of EYOF, the government of Vorarlberg has decided a “Nordic concept” for the Nordic winter sports with a total cost of about 12 million euros, but which will bring invaluable benefits to the young athletes in the Nordic field. A ski jumping facility with four jumps will be built in Tschagguns between March 2013 and Januar 2014. The first competitions could take place in 2014, just in time for the Winter Olympics in Sochi. One of the “godfathers” of the concept is Toni Innauer, he too from Vorarlberg, Olympic gold medallist and long-time Nordic director of the Austrian Ski Federation.

And when it comes to ski, inruns too are brought into mind – and therefore also Peter Riedel GmbH, which, together with Rehau, is the company par excellence in this segment of sport facilities building. Company owner Peter Riedel explains: “In Tschagguns, four different sized jumps are built, on which it can be jumped the whole year. Three from them are equipped with our Ski-Line system.” These are the HS108, the HS66 and the HS40 (the fourth facility has a HS22). The two biggest jumps are provided with a through-the-year cooled inrun– ice in the winter, ceramics in the summer.

“The fact that Ski-Line is involved in an event that was initiated in 1991 by the current IOC president Jacques Rogge makes us proud and happy” says Riedel. “The participants from all over Europe are between 13 and 17 years old and in some cases belong to the absolute world class of ski jumping.”
And so it is good that these young athletes come into contact with Peter Riedel’s technology in Montafon too and get used to it. Since they will find it again in Tschaikowski, Trondheim, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Hinzenbach and many other places!
