Hinzenbach is coming up:

“With permission, track manager”

Whoever thinks that the work of Peter Riegel GmbH and its partner Rehau is done and checked off with the production and installation of an inrun on the ski jump is very much mistaken. In certain aspects, it can be said that the work begins only then – as each facility must be taken care of and maintained. The company owner is so constantly on the move to check facilities and to develop them together with the organizers and the International Ski Federation.

This weekend, one of the absolute highlights of this year's Ski Jumping Grand Prix takes place. The world's elite meets for the second time in Upper Austria, and, like last year, the stands will burn. Thousands of ski enthusiasts cheered then the Austrian and international stars, and it will not be different in a few days.

It would be really stupid if there were problems on the track, wouldn’t it? Therefore, the track gets its own manager. He arrives on Thursday, meets the jump operators to discuss procedures and details, and will then focus his sole attention on the track until Sunday. "The point is that the track has to be in perfect condition," says he. "That's why I check the plastic and ceramic knobs in order to assure a perfect sliding, clean the track of any wax residue after the practice - this is done with a special cleaner and by hand. I check the water pipes for the irrigation of the track and monitor them visually during the competition. For example, should foliage or branches fall onto the track, they will be removed on jury instructions."

For three years since the completion and handover of the ski jump, the supervision has been performed by the service of the Erzgebirge. “This is of course the case for all other jumps in the world which are equipped with Ski-Line.” “And, fortunately, there are increasingly more and more of them!”
