A New Joy for Ski Sports: Combined athletes laud the new “Riedel inrun” on the Fichtelberg ski jump in Oberwiesenthal

RASCHAU/OBERWIESENTHAL, 26 August 2013: The day after the Summer Grand Prix of the Nordic Combined athletes, Peter Riedel finally finds time to take a breather. “The last few days really took it out of you,” tells the world’s leading manufacturer of inruns for ski jumps who was also a sponsor in his home town Oberwiesenthal. “On Wednesday, we received the provisional certificate from the International Ski Federation (FIS), Thursday we welcomed FIS race director Lasse Ottesen on Prague Airport, had scheduled training for Friday, and competitions on Saturday and Sunday.”

The Austrian duo Christoph Bieler/Bernhard Gruber won the team sprint, and Japanese Akito Watabe won the single competition. “We had good races and worthy winners,” Riedel states, who presented the trophy to the Austrian team on Saturday. And he took special pleasure in the laud of the scene for the new Fichtelberg inrun.

“The new ski jump went through its baptism by fire”, was the headline in the paper “Freie Presse” today, on Monday, continuing with a quote by Eric Frenzel: “The radius no longer has a kink; the inrun is evenly well installed.” Bernhard Gruber supported the opinion in a conversation with Riedel, stating, “The inrun is ace.” Furthermore, Austrian coach Falko Krismayr highly lauded the “double inrun”.

“The recognition from the athletes and coaches is very important to me personally,” Riedel says. “They are the ones who have to be comfortable with the inrun.” Furthermore, the entrepreneur observes that the “Riedel inrun” gains more and more speed. “I predicted this development a year ago, and it happened.” His product will also be installed on the Olympic ski jumps in Sapporo this year.

However, an inrun without a substructure would be worthless, and the race against the clock could have never been won without the collaboration of various institutions and organisations. “The city of Oberwiesenthal, the WSC Oberwiesenthal, the whole region has worked hand in hand perfectly during this project,” Riedel says. “I am glad to be a part of this grand whole, and I want to thank everyone who worked in the background to make the bases on which we put our inrun on this prestigious ‘bakken’.”
