Frenzel looks forward to the renovation of the Fichtelberg ski jump

Finally, it’s working again with the jumps and the wins and this makes Eric Frenzel and its large fan base happy. Peter Riedel rates among this fan base – after all, people from Oberwiesenthal have to stick together! But this is not all they have in common. Because Peter Riedel has prevailed against strong competition and received the contract to build the inrun for the renovation of the long-standing Fichtelberg ski jump, it must be assumed that Eric Frenzel will soon be more frequently running in on a product by one of his fans before he starts flying.

“I am very, very happy about the fact the ski jump in Oberwiesenthal will be rebuilt and renewed”, says the current normal hill world champion of 2011, who wants to defend his title in a couple of weeks in the Italian Val di Fiemme. “Everything will be better, the profile will be modernized, the track will be adapted to the requirements. I am delighted to see an ice track. And a new measuring system will be integrated.” He is talking about the measuring system which has now also attracted the attention of the public at the New Year’s ski jumping competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The Fichtelberg ski jump will continue to play an important part in the summer grand prix of the Nordic combiners – this year, the finals of the summer competition could take place in Oberwiesenthal – and in some places, they already consider the return of the world cup. Frenzel keeps it in perspective. “Personally, I am mainly looking at my home ski jump under the aspect of training and promotion of young talent. I am confident that Peter Riedel is a specialist in his field and that he will be able to install a great inrun at the ski jump.”
But? “But I would rather have his ‘track-in-track’ system see installed and not the ‘double-track’. With the latter, the legs of the jumper are too far apart in the tracks. But supposedly, there are issues with the patent which is why the ‘track-in-track’ cannot be installed.”

It is very important that experienced and successful athletes such as Eric Frenzel are participating and explaining their point of view objectively”, says Peter Riedel. Our ‘double-track’ complies with the FIS regulation; however it is at the top limit because one winter and one summer track each are installed next to each other. Albeit, there are no patent issues regarding the ‘track-in-track’ and we could deliver this product without problems. Ultimately, my company will carry out the work the customer, that is the city Oberwiesenthal, orders.”
