OBERWIESENTHAL - two months yet – than it will be wintry in Oberwiesenthal! Although no snow, but with the same zeal and the same enthusiasm, the winter sport fans know well from the cold season. The Summer Grand Prix of the Nordic Combined celebrating his opening to Germany`s highest hill on the weekend of 22nd till 24th of August 2014.

Thus, the first meeting of the international NoKo elite after the Olympic season will be a highlight for athletes and fans the preparations are running at full speed since a long time. Now in today's first meeting of the Organizing Committee the way for a successful start into the summer season was officially paved. The District Administrator of Erzgebirgskreises, Frank Vogel, makes himself strong as patron of the event for the event on Fichtelberg, Oberwiesenthals Mayor Mirko Ernst will act as president of the event.

"This opening meeting was an important step in preparing to make the event on the penultimate holiday weekend a great experience for the spectators and a great success for Oberwiesenthal" rejoiced Peter Riedel, who as subs. Head of OC, responsible for the implementation of the summer Grand Prix next to the chairman of the WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal, Kurt Rehahn.

Still in July, the ongoing construction work on the Fichtelberg ski jump will be completed, then the teams will get a new cottage village at the highest level. "Of course we want to give the teams the opportunity to use the Fichtelberg ski jump for a comprehensive training in advance", says Riedel. "With the expansion of the ski jump start-up in the previous year and the current construction work for the further expansion of the ski jump, the teams can work out on an even higher level on Fichtelberg in future."

Eight weeks of preparation remains the combiners yet. This will show whether the international elite Olympic champion Eric Frenzel has grown to its home hill.
