Non-Stop from Oberwiesenthal to Kuusamo

KUUSAMO - A few hours after the Nordic Combined Summer Grand Prix in Oberwiesenthal was completed, the president of the organizing committee, Peter Riedel climbed back into his car and pursued his day job: equipping the world’s ski jumps with a cutting-edge, innovative track. Right on Monday after the race weekend, Riedel covered a distance of 1.429 km to head towards the Finnish town of Kuusamo - his VW Transporter fully loaded with tools to be ready for the start of assembly on September 1.

At the Rukantunturi (short Ruka) ski jump, the team of Riedel is currently working as fast as they were last year at the Kulm, when they were equipping the ski flying jump in record time. For the Ruka in Kuusamo there are also only a few days installation time scheduled, because winter is drawing nearer quite fast: "I am very proud to equip the hill for this year's Nordic season opener of the FIS World Cup. The Ruka is a hill with a long history, that is why we are even more that we can support the Finns towards making it fit for the future”, said Peter Riedel.

Completion, instrucitions and test jumps will follow before the skiing fans will be able to see the best ski jumpers and Nordic Combined at the world’s most modern ice-run track from 25 to 27 November. Riedel's team will be close by during the Nordic Opening of the International Ski Federation FIS, because in addition to upgrading the in-run track, Riedel’s experts were also engaged for the support during the World Cup.
