Trondheim brings rock concerts to Ski Jumping Hill - a model for other venues

35,000 spectators watched on 1 August, as superstar Robbie Williams rocked the Granåsen ski jumping arena in Trondheim. Williams was looking forward to a memorable evening - and he and his fans were not disappointed. For the second time - after Bruce Springsteen already played in the same place in the previous year - the organizers showed the world how a second- and / or after-use of ski jumping arenas can look like outside of training and competition times. After criticism of last year's concert, the organizers had learned a lot and presented first-class logistics in terms of admission and shuttle traffic.

"This was a great event and such a use would surely be a great idea for other arenas in Europe," says Peter Riedel, who was one of the concertgoers himself. "Normally when here, we are mainly concerned with the maintenance or support of the ski jump, but seeing this concert was inspiring. Other facilities have similar chances, as they all have the experience of major events, the technology and logistics and the audience ranks form ideal concert stands. I'm curious to see if we will experience similar events in other places!“

Such an idea is definitely interesting for the marketing of the venues. On the recordings of the concert in Trondheim, the focus was not only on Robbie Williams, but also on the jump and the landing area…
