Repair work on Kulm finished

The past winter was something special even for alpine conditions. Days of snowfall and meter-high amounts of new snow everyday caused many problems in daily life. One of the biggest ski jumps in the world, the Kulm, was one of the spots where the masses of snow caused great damage in the inrun. After the snow melt in spring, the real extent became apparent. Unbelievable, which forces were set free! According to our calculations, there were about 600 cubic meters of snow, which pushed and broke the sidewalls and the inrun. As we already installed the Master Track on the Kulm, the Austrian Ski Federation assigned us with the repair work of the inrun. For about one month now we have been working hard to get the track back in shape.

Just over two weeks ago, the inspection of the FIS took place, which ended up positive. The last work was done this week and yesterday the final mounting of the mill took place. As part of the repair work, the newly developed safety covers of the milling rails were also installed - another development that makes skijumping even safer for athletes.

Jürgen Winkler, Sports Director Kulm: "After the avalanche damage last winter, we have now restored the original condition of the inrun and with the new safety cover we even got an update in terms of safety. The FIS inspection was positive and the start of the jump is so far usable again. The damage elimination of Peter and his team ran smoothly, on time and in the usual good quality. "

Mario Stecher, Nordic Director of the Austrian Ski Federation: "Ski flying on the Kulm is undoubtedly an important event for the entire Bad Mitterndorf region and the Ausseer Land. It is a great opportunity to show skiflying in front of our home crowd and also internationally. The new organizing committee is very dedicated, it's great that there are people who are so busy working on the Kulm event."

Peter Riedel, CEO Peter Riedel GmbH: "The work on the Kulm was a great challenge, even if you can see in what state the inrun after the avalanche was. We are happy that we have now created all the conditions that the Ski Flying World Cup can take place this winter. It was a matter of honor for me as a partner of the Austrian Ski Federation to do the damage repair on one of the world's greatest ski flying hills. "
