Our next project took us to the beautiful Black Forest this week. When you arrive in the small town of Baiersbronn, you'd have no idea what a fantastic ski jumping complex it is. With a total of five hills ranging from 7 to 85 meters (K-point), the arena is impressive even without a large hill. No wonder the area continues to produce outstanding talent, such as Manuel Faisst and Svenja Würth.
The ski jumping facility is only open in winter and preparing has been and remains anything but easy. You have to hope that Mother Nature sends plenty of snow from above. Low temperatures, some snow from the cannon, a few strong men, and you have all the ingredients for a theoretically flawless jumping hill operation. After the landing hill, which swallows several cubic meters of snow, comes the inrun. And that's a real challenge to prepare, as it's made entirely of snow. Once everything was prepared, it often happened that rain came and ruined everything.
At least this one critical point has now been significantly alleviated. When the local ski club contacted me about a new track for the K60 hill, it brought a smile to my face. Baiersbronn is a major player in the junior ski jumping sector, but it's also our second jumping hill complex that equipe in the beautiful Black Forest.
So at the beginning of this week we arrived and we were amazed from the great preparatory work the club had already done. The old base was completely removed and replaced with a new one. The profile is almost perfect, ideal conditions for our world-famous Clubtrack. After several days of construction and numerous screws and track modules, we packed up our things yesterday and handed over the finished track to the host.
With the new Clubtrack, snow is no longer needed for the inrun. From now on, the inrun will be operated with the highest-quality ceramic studs, virtually eliminating the need for inrun preparation. Gone are the days when approaching rain made the event organizers' pulses race.
You can clearly see what's possible when clubs show a strong will to make a change and join forces. The facility should be ready for use in December, and I'm very excited to hear what the athletes think of our new track. We, for our part, say THANK YOU for your trust and wish you lots of fun with the new Clubtrack!
